Mrs. Agnes Elizabeth (Gibby) Thomas, age 94, of Temple passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2025. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama on July 26, 1931. Mrs. Thomas was the daughter of the late, Bob Gibby and the late, Cloe (Ramsey) Gibby. In addition to her parents, Elizabeth is preceded in death by her husband, Frank W. Thomas; by her son, Tommy Franklin Thomas; by one daughter, Pamela June Wilson; by her brother, Robert Gibby; by her sisters, Irene Breazeale, Ruby Stonecypher, and Evelyn Bennett; and by one grandson, Jake Wilson.
Mrs. Thomas touched the lives of many during her career as a lunchroom cashier at Garrett Middle School in Austell, where her kindness and dedication were fondly remembered by former students. Elizabeth was also a beloved member of Mount Holly Church in Carrollton. She centered her life around her family and was lovingly called “Mother” by many, regardless of their relation to her. She had a way of taking genuine interest in others and loved spending time with her family. Christmas held a special place in her heart, as she prioritized giving to those in need, making regular donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews (IFCJ).
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter and two sons-in-law, Sherry and Jerome Glass of Temple and Ricky Wilson of Temple; her grandchildren, Tiffany Turner and her husband Keith, Laura Johncox and her husband Steve, Lindsey McNiel and her husband Trey, and Chelsie Winiarczyk and her husband Robby. Mrs. Thomas is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Cole Turner, Chloe Turner, Aidan Johncox, Scarlet Johncox, Molly McNiel, Tommy McNiel, Rhyan Winiarczyk, Carter Winiarczyk, and a number of other relatives.
In keeping with Mrs. Thomas’s wishes, she will be cremated.
