Billy Hue Green, Sr.

Mr. Billy Hue Green, Sr., age 89, of Temple passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023. He was born in Temple on August 6, 1934. Mr. Green was the son of the late, Joe Green and the late, Alma (Taylor) Green. In addition to his parents, Mr. Green is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Linda Ann (McBrayer) Green; his brothers, John “J.C” Green and Walter Harold Green and by his sister, Florence Elizabeth Green.

Mr. Green was a 1952 graduate of Temple High School. After graduation, Billy began his service in the United States Army working as an Engineer in the 306th Battalion 81st Infantry Division which was comprised of men from Carroll County, Georgia. After his service in the military, Mr. Green began his 34-year career with The State of Georgia Department of Transportation, retiring as a Highway Maintenance Foreman. He continued his legacy of service after retirement, by working with old reel projectors, restoring and playing older movies at various nursing homes and senior centers. Billy was a member of Temple Methodist Church, the Temple Senior Center, and also a faithful member of the “Liars Table” who met at Jones BBQ in the mornings for breakfast. Mr. Green was a loving father, papa, and a cherished member of the Temple Community who will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Billy Green, Jr. and Amy Green of Temple; his granddaughters, Lindsey Camille Green and Sarah Faith Green both of Temple. Mr. Green is also survived by his nieces, nephews, and a number of other relatives.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Thursday, December 21, 2023, from 4 P.M. until 7 P.M.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, December 22, 2023, at 2 P.M. from Temple Methodist Church with Minister Phillip Wynn, Brother Billy Cleveland, and Pastor Marc Dwiggins officiating.

Mr. Green will lie in state at the Church on Friday, prior to the service, from 1 P.M. until the funeral hour.

Interment with Military Honors, provided by American Legion Post 143 of Carrollton, will follow at New Brooklyn Baptist Church Cemetery. Billy Cleveland, Johnny Truett, Mike Shannon, Mike Green, Henry McBrayer, and James McBrayer will be serving as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a love offering be made to Temple Methodist Church in Memory of Billy Green, Sr. Donations can be mailed to Temple Methodist Church at P.O. Box 40 Temple, GA 30179.
