Bobbie Nell "Granny Bob" Patterson

September 27, 1944 — July 11, 2025

Bobbie Nell “Granny Bob” Patterson made her graceful entrance into heaven on Friday, July 11, 2025, surely greeted by her beloved Joe and a whole crew ready for a reunion filled with silly songs, sweet hugs, and her signature sass.

In her younger years, Granny Bob was always on the move – whether it was bowling strikes, tossing horseshoes like a champ, putting a million miles on her John Deere mower, or flying down the road just a little (ok, a lot) over the speed limit. She may or may not have had a few speeding tickets to her name, but we’ll call that living full throttle.

She absolutely loved family gatherings – especially fish fries and holiday spreads filled with homemade treats and the kind of comfort food that only she could make. Her chocolate pies and homemade ice cream are legendary and tragically impossible to recreate (trust us, we’ve tried).

She loved live country and gospel music, weekend getaways to the beach or mountains, and listening to the radio. Conway Twitty may have been her favorite singer, but her all-time favorite songwriter was her one and only Joe, the self-proclaimed “Drayor of Maketown.” She was proudly his “First Lady” and the keeper of every love note and silly rhyme he ever wrote.

Yard sales, auctions, and clearance racks were her idea of a good time – and if there was a deal to be found, Granny Bob was on it. Later in life, she still kept going strong: watching Charles Stanley preach on TV and living the good life in her cuddle dud pajamas, wrapped in a cozy blanket and still smarter than any contestant on the game shows she loved.

She adored her family with all her heart, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She never missed a birthday, always showing up with a thoughtful gift and a warm hug. Her love was steady, fierce, and unconditional.

She was a generous giver, supporting children’s hospitals, veterans’ organizations, and anyone in need. Whether it was through a donation, a home-cooked meal, or a simple act of kindness, she gave from the heart and never expected anything in return.

She was snazzy, sassy, and deeply thoughtful – the kind of woman who always showed up, always cared, and always made sure everyone was well-fed. Her favorite foods? Easy: Mexican food, coconut cake, fried squash and okra, buttered cornbread, and catfish.

She was one-of-a-kind. And while we’ll miss her deeply, we know that side of heaven just got a whole lot more fun.

Born in Pike County, Georgia, on September 27, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Nelson Scott and the late Cora Mae Layton Hanks. In addition to her parents, Bobbie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joe Patterson, and her brother, Billy Scott.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Tammy (Glenn) Watts of Villa Rica, Tina (Tommy) Strickland of Bowdon and Tracey (Jimmy) McMillan of Temple; her son, Tim (Gail) Patterson of Bowdon; and her precious grandchildren: Tyler, Tiphani, Tara, Tatum, Tayla, Alexis, Tamara, Trinity, Travis, Trevor, Aubrey, Amber, and Tanner. Also surviving are 18 great-grandchildren; her brother Mack (Cricket) Scott; and other family and friends.

In keeping with Bobbie’s wishes, she will be cremated.

Cremation services have been entrusted to Hutcheson-Croft Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Temple.
