Mrs. Dale Thornton Jones, age 78, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2026. Born in Villa Rica on August 15, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Glenn Wesley Thornton and the late Agnes Ilene (Smith) Thornton.
In addition to her parents, Dale was preceded in death by her beloved son, Ronnie Jones, and her brothers, Jerry Thornton, Wendell Thornton, Gene Thornton, and Wilburn Thornton.
Dale spent her life working hard, sharing her talents, and caring for those she loved. Throughout the years, she worked in several different capacities, but she was especially known for her gift of sewing. She put those talents to use while working in upholstery at Pine Craft Furniture and later at Sewell Manufacturing. She also worked at Honda Lock in Bremen and Walmart. Her love of sewing did not end when she left work for the day, as she continued to make alterations for family and friends, always willing to lend a helping hand and share her talents with those around her.
Outside of work, Dale found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. She loved tending to her garden, growing beautiful flowers, watching butterflies, taking trips to the mountains, admiring classic cars, and enjoying her favorite Westerns and Atlanta Braves baseball. These were the things that brought her joy, but nothing meant more to Dale than her family. She treasured the time spent with those she loved and took great pride in being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. To her grandchildren, she was affectionately known as “Memaw,” a title she held dear. The love she gave her family and the memories she created with them will remain a lasting part of her legacy.
Dale was a Christian by faith and attended West Georgia Worship in Bremen.
Left to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy of love are her husband, Wilburn Jones of Temple; her children, Rodney Emory of Temple, Rebecca Sims of Temple, Michael Jones and his wife, Janet, of Carrollton, and Rhonda Rainwater and her husband, Scott, of Buchanan; her brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Bonnie Thornton of Dallas; and her sister, Christina Gonzalez of Temple.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her grandchildren, Ashleigh, Dillion, Kaylnn, Rosalee, Jason, Matt, Kyle, April, Russell, Angel, Toby, Chloe, Misti, Michael, Cheyenne, Ayanna, and Daniel; her many great-grandchildren; her beloved fur baby, Pixie; and a number of other relatives. Each of them will carry forward a part of Dale through the love she shared, the moments they enjoyed together, and the memories that will remain close to their hearts.
The family will receive friends at Hutcheson-Croft Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
