David Dolphin Bentley

Mr. David Dolphin Bentley, age 63, of LaGrange, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2026. He was born in Carrollton on February 14, 1963, to the late William Monroe Bentley and the late Lilly Inez Britt Bentley.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his first wife, Sarah Bentley; his second wife, Ruth Bentley; one brother, Denver Bentley; and three sisters, Mary Grace Pate, Virginia Louise Hefley, and Mary Inez Bentley.

He is survived by three brothers, Alvin Bentley of Carrollton, Junior Bentley of Carrollton, and Terry Lee Kilgore of Carrollton; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Avis and Joe Tolbert of Carrollton, and Joyce Yancey of Bremen; his stepchildren, Joanne Britt and her husband, George of Carrollton, Billy McCullers of LaGrange, Brandon Short and his wife Katie of LaGrange, Adam Short and his wife Kaitlin of LaGrange, Ashley Short of LaGrange, and Denise Short of LaGrange; David is also survived by Anthony Simpson who he loved as a son, and by his step-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends who loved him dearly.

In accordance with Mr. Bentley’s wishes, he will be cremated.

The family will announce plans for a memorial service at a later date.
