Mr. Edward Ray Agan, age 75, of Temple passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025. He was born in Villa Rica on July 4, 1950. Mr. Agan was the son of the late, Arlie Edward Agan and the late, Mary Emma (Gordon) Agan.
Edward was a 1968 graduate of Temple High School. He would later go on to attend West Georgia College and then graduate from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in 1973. Mr. Agan lived a life dedicated to serving others in need, many at the darkest hours of their lives. Edward began his career in funeral service on April 1, 1970, with Clyde Jones at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica. He would earn his license as Funeral Director and Embalmer in 1973. Mr. Agan’s professional career in funeral service would carry him to serve at other funeral homes in the west Georgia area including J. Hoyt Thomas Funeral Home and J. Collins Funeral Home. Outside of his direct employment with any particular funeral home, Edward was a source of guidance and encouragement to many in the funeral industry. In addition to his career in funeral service, Mr. Agan worked at the United States Post Office in Villa Rica, retiring after thirty-one years of service. Throughout his life, Edward enjoyed being involved in the community through various organizations including the Villa Rica and Temple Jaycees, the Villa Rica and Temple Lions Clubs, and the Villa Rica Optimist Club. He was also a dedicated member of Bethel Baptist Church in Temple where he served as a Deacon and on many church committees. The most important decision Edward made was accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in 1968, whom he served faithfully until his last breath. Edward’s life of service made an indelible mark upon many lives and he will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish his memory are his brother, James (Cathy)Agan of Temple; his sister, Faye Thomason of Temple; his nieces, nephews, and number of other relatives and many friends throughout the community.
