Effie Inez (McElroy) Johnson

Mrs. Effie Inez (McElroy) Johnson, age 82, of Bremen passed away on Friday, October 14, 2016. She was born in Temple on Monday, September 3, 1934. Mrs. Johnson was the daughter of the late Boyd McElroy and the late Barbara (Williams) McElroy. Besides her parents, Mrs. Johnson is also preceded in death by her husband, Clifford L. Johnson; one brother, Frank McElroy; two sisters, Geneva Peavey and Ilene Rhodes.

Survivors include her two sons and one daughter-in-law, John Allen and Vera Ann Johnson of Wedowee, Alabama and William Carlton Johnson of Bremen; one daughter, Barbara Kirby of Temple; one brother, Boyd Johnson of Carrollton; one sister Annie Ruth Mathis of Temple; three grandchildren, Denise Kirby of Humble, Texas, Lee Wilson of Bremen, and John Kirby of Temple; one great-grandchild, Madison Kirby of Temple and a number of other relatives.

Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the Croft Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jeff Byrd and Reverend Larry Argo officiating. Mrs. Johnson will lie in state at the Croft Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday, October 18, 2016 from 10:00 A.M. until the Funeral hour. In accordance with Mrs. Johnson’s wishes, she will cremated following the Funeral Service.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
