Mr. Gerald Stroud, age 81, of Temple passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2022. He was born in Purvis, Mississippi on Wednesday, August 27, 1941. Mr. Stroud was the son of the late, Beal Teague Stroud, Sr. and the late, Hildred Verma (Owens) Stroud. In addition to his parents, Mr. Stroud is preceded in death by his brothers, Beal Teague Stroud, Jr., Donald Stroud, and James Stroud; and by three sisters, Patsy Thompson, Shirley Chisolm, and Alice Popham.
Mr. Stroud made his career as a Truck Driver. Later in life, he also served as a Police Officer for the Dallas (GA) Police Department. Among other interests, Mr. Stroud especially enjoyed food. Some of his favorites included, cornbread and buttermilk, Little Debbie Fig Bars, and drinking his Diet Coke and Yoohoos. Mr. Stroud also enjoyed watching Judge Judy and he was affectionately known to many as “The Weatherman” because he loved to share the latest weather reports.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Carolyn (Boone) Stroud of Temple; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Michael Summerville of Temple and Amanda and Johnathan Rose of Douglasville; one sister, Joyce Godfrey of Rome; his grandchildren, Shasta Summerville, Sheva Summerville, Rachel Rose, and Drake Rose; his great-grandchildren, Joseph Monroe, Gracie Strickland, Madie Strickland, Emmalie Jordan and a number of other relatives.
In accordance with Mr. Stroud’s wishes, he will be cremated.
The family will hold a Memorial Service on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at 2 P.M. from the First Pentecostal Church in Villa Rica, GA with Pastor Eddie Allen and Pastor Jason Spray officiating.
