Mr. Gordon Charles Peavy, Jr., age 65, of Carrollton, peacefully passed away on April 25, 2026. Born in Atlanta on April 29, 1960, Gordon was the beloved son of the late Gordon Charles Peavy, Sr. and Virginia Lee (Shockley) Peavy. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Larry Merneigh and Fred Merneigh.
Gordon was a talented athlete from a young age, playing football for youth teams such as the Mt. Carmel Rams, Beulah Bulldogs, and Douglas County Rebels. He continued his athletic pursuits in high school, playing basketball for Lithia Springs and football for Douglas County High School, from which he graduated in 1978. After high school, Gordon devoted 21 years to his career as a mechanic with Precision Tuning in Union City, eventually retiring as Store Manager.
He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors, enjoying fishing, exploring, and traveling. Gordon had a passion for history and was an avid collector of Civil War and Native American artifacts, including many arrowheads. Known for his kind and generous spirit, he always sought to help others in need. Family held a special place in his heart, and he was a devoted father and brother.
Gordon is lovingly remembered by his son, Gordon Charles Peavy, III, and daughter, Stacey Daugherty, both of Yelm, Washington; his sisters Melody Lindsey and her husband Roger of Villa Rica, Melinda Hulsey and her husband Tony of Temple, Melissa Cooley of Franklin, and Mary Sue Sikes and her husband Mike of Jacksonville, Florida. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Isaac and Tyler, along with three nieces, five nephews, and many other relatives.
In accordance with Gordon’s wishes, he will be cremated.

Cremation services are being provided by Hutcheson-Croft Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Temple.
