Mr. John Franklin Morris, age 84, of Temple passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2025. He was born in Jamestown, Alabama on January 24, 1941. Mr. Morris was the son of the late, Arthur Franklin Morris and the late, Eva Lou (Weaver) Morris. In addition to his parents, Mr. Morris is preceded in death by his sisters, Yvonne Godfrey and Debra Kay Wall.
Mr. Morris served his country honorably in the United States Navy aboard the USS Shangri-La during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Following his time in the military, John worked for Greyhound Transport Company, retiring after thirty years of service. Mr. Morris was Christian by faith, and a member of Faith Baptist Church in Temple. He enjoyed being outdoors and working on his antique 1971 Ford Truck. John was also an avid sports fan, watching the Atlanta Braves baseball games, college football, especially the Alabama Crimson Tide, and professional wrestling. Mr. Morris also enjoyed being active in the community, attending many of the Temple City Council meetings.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Beatrice Joanne (Reid) Morris of Temple; his son, Kevin Morris of Temple; his daughter, Lori Ann Morris of Temple and a number of other relatives.
Graveside services will be held at Faith Baptist Church Cemetery in Temple on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 3 P.M. with Reverend Travis Prichard officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Navy Honor Guard.
(In the event of inclement weather, the graveside services will be moved inside the Church.)
