Leon Truman Smith

Mr. Leon Truman Smith, age 93, of Villa Rica formerly of Panama City and West Palm Beach, Florida passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2023. He was born in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina on June 17, 1930. Mr. Smith was the son of the late, Royster Smith and the late, Chloe (Tutor) Smith. In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his wife, Peggy (Dean) Smith and by his brother, Clifton Smith.

Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Jan and Kenny Hammonds of Villa Rica, GA., Dottie Cook of California, and Dianna and Bruce Wishon of Washington State; his sisters, Ganell Smith of Florida, Olivia Garrett of North Carolina, Evelyn Jarmon of North Carolina, and Glenda Smith of Missouri; his grandchildren, Eva Llaurens, Melissa Riley, Giselle Poinier, Joe Draughon, Lauren Cabral, Gabriel Draughon, and Kirsten Hammonds. Mr. Smith is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and a number of other relatives.

Leon greatly appreciated the prayers, cards and phone calls from his friends and family prior to his home-going. In accordance with Mr. Smith's wishes, he will be cremated and it was his desire that his ashes be placed with his wife in their Florida resting place.
