Nila Celyne Winn

December 29, 1949 — September 20, 2025

Ms. Nila Celyne Winn, age 75, of Douglasville passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2025. She was born in Cedartown, Georgia on December 29, 1949. Ms. Winn was the daughter of the late, Dan P. Winn and the late, Marceline (Conley) Winn.

Ms. Winn graduated from Cedartown High School and Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia. Her career in the legal profession spanned from court reporter to paralegal, and she dedicated many years of her life to public service as a parole officer for the State of Georgia. Her commitment to her work reflected her desire to make a positive impact on her community. She was a member of Ephesus Baptist Church, where she was known for her kindness and warm spirit.

Nila was an enthusiastic sports fan and always ready for an adventure. She blazed a trail to San Francisco, where she lived and worked for twelve years, cheering passionately for the Golden State Warriors and the Oakland A’s before returning home to Douglasville. A frequent traveler, she especially loved visiting her extended family in Texas, her mother’s home state. The proud daughter of a Marine, she accompanied her father on a national tour promoting his book about World War II. Among her many memorable experiences were fulfilling her dream of visiting the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York, and watching her Georgia Bulldogs play in the College Football National Championship game in Atlanta.

Her love of travel took her across the globe, including to Greece, Italy, and Israel, where she sailed on the Sea of Galilee, floated in the Dead Sea, and reaffirmed her faith through baptism in the Jordan River.

Nila was deeply devoted to her family, her Bible study groups, her “Ya-Yas,” and many cherished friends. She loved the Atlanta Braves almost as much as she loved Jesus.

Nila’s memory will be lovingly preserved by her sister Darice Winn Lewis of Cedartown; two brothers and their spouses, Frank and Mai Winn of Douglasville, and Nick and Tina Winn of Douglasville. She is also survived and adored by her nieces and nephews and their spouses: Joely Heege (Gary), Allyn Arrington (Scott), Ayn Glenn, Brandon Winn (Liz), Conley Winn, Austin Smith (Rebecca), and Erin Blackadar (Robert).

A beloved great-aunt, she is remembered by her great-nieces and great-nephews: Kaitlin, Gabby (Hunter), Daniel, Winn, Mary Celyne, Kasey, Caleb, Jack, Jeremiah, Nila, and George, her great-great-niece Charlotte, and great-great-nephew Cash who will all carry her love and presence throughout their lives. She leaves behind many other relatives and friends who will remember her with love.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Ephesus Baptist Church in Villa Rica, with Dr. Billy Godwin and Reverend John Pennington officiating. Program and music coordinated by Jonathan Thomas. Special memories will be shared by Frank Winn, Juli Muchnick, and Joely Heege.

The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Nila’s honor to Ephesus Baptist Church, The Marine Corps Toys for Tots, or a charity of your choice.
