Mr. Robert Lee Blackburn, age 74, of Villa Rica passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2022. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama on Sunday, September 14, 1947. Mr. Blackburn was the son of the late, Robert R. Blackburn and the late, Betty (Davis) Blackburn Lawrence. In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by his sisters, Carolyn Trussell and Marilyn McClusky.

Mr. Blackburn began his career as a Welder, working as a Supervisor for Caterpillar (Thompson Tractor in Birmingham) for 30 years. Robert also owned and operated Blackburn Welding.  He enjoyed outdoor activities, especially going to Lake Martin, playing baseball, going fishing, and watching the Atlanta Braves and Auburn football. Following his love for the outdoors, Robert operated Striper Guide Service, taking various guests fishing.  Above all, Robert loved his family, and he will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-five years, Evelyn (Aycock) Blackburn of Villa Rica; his son, Robert Cody Blackburn of Villa Rica; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rachel and Fred Tucker of Villa Rica and Wendi and Bob Alexander of Alexander City, Alabama; his brother and sister-in-law, Robin and Roberta Blackburn of Gardendale, Alabama; his aunt, Gayle Smith of Mount Olive, Alabama; his grandchildren and their spouses, Dr. Katlyn Tucker Van Patten and Lieutenant Calvin Van Patten and Rebecca Tucker Gibson and Brent Gibson; his great-grandchildren Riley Gibson, Riley Alexander, James Gibson, Abigail Van Patten and a number of other relatives.

In accordance with Mr. Blackburn’s wishes, he will be cremated.
