Stephen Wright Johnson

Mr. Stephen Wright Johnson, age 80, of Carrollton passed away on Monday, April 3, 2023. He was born in St. Augustine, Florida on Wednesday, February 24, 1943. Mr. Johnson was the son of the late, James B. Johnson and the late, Sonia E. (Hunt) Johnson. In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnson is preceded in death by two daughters, Lisa Johnson and Lori Johnson; by his brother, Jimmy Johnson and by one sister, Jane Bishop.

Mr. Johnson retired from CSX Railroad as a Roadmaster. During his career with the railroad he worked the Marietta, Georgia to Etowah, Tennessee to Murphy, North Carolina route. Later in his career, Mr. Johnson worked at the Inman Yard in Atlanta. Mr. Johnson and his wife attended Antioch Baptist Church in Carrollton. He enjoyed the outdoors, going to fishing tournaments, deer hunting, rabbit hunting and turkey hunting. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, and he will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Janie Mae (Thomason) Johnson of Carrollton; one daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Flip Jenkins of Acworth; one sister, Marjorie Sue Johnson of Carrollton; two grandsons, Zachary Coleman and Raymond Russell; Mr. Johnson is also survived by his nieces, nephews and a number of other relatives.

In accordance with Mr. Johnson’s wishes, he will be cremated.

The family plans to hold a Memorial Gathering at a later date.
