Tara Monique Hood

Ms. Tara Monique Hood, age 54, of Temple, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2026. She was born in Lexington, Virginia, on August 2, 1970, the daughter of the late Moses James Hood and the late Helen Louise (Nowlin) Hood.

Tara was a graduate of Lexington High School in Lexington, Virginia. She continued her education at Savannah State University, where she earned her Master's Degree. Throughout her career, Tara served as a consultant and grant writer, working with numerous government agencies and charitable organizations. Most recently, she owned and operated New Dimensions Consulting Group.

Tara had a passion for learning and embraced every opportunity to broaden her knowledge. She enjoyed traveling, spending time outdoors, exploring state parks, and lending a helping hand to anyone in need. Above all, Tara cherished her family, and the love she shared with them will remain a lasting legacy. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memory are her brothers, Phillip Hood of Denver, Colorado, and Guy Hood of Lexington, Virginia; her sisters, Shelia Hood of Roanoke, Virginia, Evette Hood of Duluth, Georgia, and Yenena Hood of Tennessee; her nieces and nephews, Chantal Hood, Diara Hood, Justin Baker, Dominique Fitz, Shawheim Merchant, Bernard Merchant, III, Shaniece Hood, Shannon Hood, Alexandra Hood and Andrew Hood. She is also survived by several great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as many other loving relatives and friends.

In keeping with Tara's wishes, she will be cremated.
