Mrs. Beverly Mavis (Waddell) Henson, age 94, of Temple passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023. She was born in Temple on October 30, 1928. Mrs. Henson was the daughter of the late, John William Waddell and the late, Ruby (Jackson) Waddell. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Henson is preceded in death by her husband, James B. “Jim” Henson, Sr., her brother, Billy Waddell, and by her sisters, Velma Jean Jones and Mildred Bridges.
Mrs. Henson was a graduate of Temple High School and a member of New Brooklyn Baptist Church. She enjoyed shopping and traveling, going to places such as the World’s Fair, Hawaii, San Francisco, and to Dallas, Texas to see her great-grandson graduate from High School. Mavis worked for twenty-one years as an Activities Director for Carrollton Nursing and Rehab, retiring at age 90. Mrs. Henson was completely dedicated to her family and she will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, James B. Henson, Jr. and Jane Henson of Bremen; her daughter and son-in-law, Hope and Alan Hales of Bremen; her granddaughter, Stephanie Henson Linke of Dallas, Texas; her step-grandchildren, Kim Long Kerrick, Jacob Hales, April Davis, Brooke Freise, Uriah Hales, and Lindsay Stafford; her great-grandson, Austin Linke, her step-great-grandchildren, Mason Kerrick and Jackson Kerrick; twenty two step-great-grandchildren from the Hales family, nine step-great-great-grandchildren, and a number of other relatives.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, October 30, 2023, from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at 1P.M. from Hutcheson-Croft Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Milford Ballenger officiating.
The family will also receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, prior to the service, from 12 Noon until the funeral hour.
Interment will follow the funeral service in New Brooklyn Baptist Church Cemetery in Temple with Nathan Forrister, Tony Bridges, Chris Massey, Austin Linke, Randy Perren, and Jeff Jones serving as pallbearers.
