Joe Wayne Williams

Mr. Joe Wayne Williams, age 82, of Temple passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2023. He was born in Dallas on February 16, 1940. Mr. Williams was the son of the late, Claudie James Williams and the late, Jewell (Swanson) Thompson. In addition to his parents, Mr. Williams is preceded in death by his brothers, Bobby E. Williams and Willie Williams, and by his sisters, Georgia Burks and Linda Claudette Summerville.

Mr. Williams served in the United States Army from 1963 until his Honorable Discharge in 1968. He would later go on to work for and retire as Parts Manager for Capital Cadillac after 35 years. Joe and Linda also owned and operated Jolinda Homes from 1990 until 2004, building custom homes throughout the West Georgia area. Mr. Williams enjoyed being outdoors, maintaining his lawn and home, working in his garden, and above all, being with his wife and family. Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend and he will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Linda (Dodson) Williams of Temple; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Mitchel and Catherine Williams of Douglasville and Marc Williams of Temple; his grandchildren, Lauren Bryant and her husband, Steven Bryant, Courtney Williams, Kaitlin Williams, and Carley Jo Williams; his great-grandchildren, Nolan Bryant, Phoenix Williams, Axel Garner, Journee Freeman, Claire Freeman, and a number of other relatives.

In accordance with Mr. Williams wishes, he will be cremated.

The family plans to hold a Celebration of Life at a later date.
