Joyce Josephine (Edwards) Cosey

Mrs. Joyce Josephine (Edwards) Cosey, age 85, of Villa Rica passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2023. She was born in Canton on May 3, 1938. Mrs. Cosey was the daughter of the late, Joseph Emerson Dowda, Sr. and the late, Ruby Bell Edwards. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cosey is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Bobby Lamar Cosey.

Mrs. Cosey was a devout Christian and a member of Family Worship Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She enjoyed being outdoors and working in her yard. Above all, Mrs. Cosey loved her family, and she will be deeply missed.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Pamela Cosey of Villa Rica; her brother, Joseph Emerson Dowda, Jr. of Texas; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Jane Carroll, Nancy and Paul Williams, and Netta and Kenneth Ragar all of Texas; three grandchildren, Joel Burdick, Tadd Burdick, and Stephanie Burdick. Mrs. Cosey is also survived by ten great-grandchildren, six great great-grandchildren, and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at 2 P.M. from Hutcheson-Croft Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Keith Graham officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, prior to the service, from 12 Noon until the funeral hour.

Interment will follow the funeral service in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens in Villa Rica with Joel Burdick, Tadd Burdick, Isaac Burdick, Thomas Burdick, Jonathan Burdick, and Chris Brumbelow serving as pallbearers.
